Friday Fictioneers – No More Blind Dates

Life has been insanely busy lately – or rather insanely lacking in routine. As always, it is lovely to pop into Friday Fictioneers to say hello and offer a little story. I hope you enjoy, and I hope I find time to read and comment on others’ stories in the next few days. 🙂

No More Blind Dates

“SweetRide97?” Rubbing my hands down the smooth silk of my skirt, I glanced at his spandex shorts, looking away before I saw more than a girl ought to see on a first date.

“You must be Rosie.” He gulped from a plastic water bottle. “Got wheels?”

“I… I thought you were driving. SweetRide and all…”

“Nah, I meant my bike.” He jerked his thumb over his shoulder, toward an old brown Schwinn. “You… didn’t pedal, did you?”

He glanced longingly at his bike, then back at me. “You wanna walk?”

Most girls would’ve run. I walked. Right into love.
